Sylvester Stallone has said some harsh words regarding Dolph Lundgren’s repute, saying that there was a time when he had nothing but respect for Dolph who interpreted Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.
The spinoff is not set in stone yet
The situation is that Sly is furious at the notion of a spin-off movie about the Russian villain, and he used Twitter to blast not only the producers of the movie which are Irwin Winkler and his family but his long-time friend Dolph.
Dolph tried to set the record straight
Dolph in turn tried to ease things up with Sly, saying that “Just to set the record straight regarding a possible Drago spinoff. There’s no approved script, no deals in place, and no director and I was personally under the impression that my friend Sly Stallone was involved as a producer or even as an actor. There was a press leak last week which was unfortunate. In touch with Mr. Balboa – just so all the fans can relax…There ya go.”
He feels he should own a part
TMZ claims that Stallone’s issue is that he has no economic control over the rights of the franchise and he wants to have a piece of the pie, so he is now looking to get some traction on the matter since he believes that by creating the character and the Rocky Boxing Universe, he should be considered for the property of the names and such.
Sylvester blasted, “After IRWIN WINKLER And FAMILY SUCK ROCKY DRY! Presumed to be the most hated, untalented, decrpited, Producer in Hollywood and his cowardly children have found their next meal…Drago , RETURN MY RIGHTS BLOODSUCKERS!”
So far Irwin Winkler’s children have not responded to what Sylvester Stallone is claiming, so you could say the channels of communications are not as open as you would think.
