Houston Dynamo‘s devastating 6-0 defeat at the versus the Philadelphia Union continues to be the talk of the town. One of the players who suffered the most from this humiliating defeat was Hector Herrera, the club’s newest signing from whom much is expected.
They are disappointed and embarrassed
Herrera played all 90 minutes and although he tried, he was outplayed at all times and could do nothing to reverse the situation. “The team is disappointed, we are embarrassed with the performance (on Saturday), with the final score. There is no other way to look at it. It was a very difficult match. A match in which we were unable to execute our game plan and found ourselves in a situation that was unimaginable,” Herrera commented.
This is a three year plan
However, the midfielder is not throwing in the towel despite being six points out of the playoff zone with 11 games left in the league.
Work together as a team
“I think we can overcome this moment by sticking together and working together. I still believe in this project, in my teammates, and in the coaching staff. The project I signed for was not just for one month, which is how long I have been with the team. This is a project for the next three and a half years, and I believe we can achieve our goals during that time,” he continued.
On to the next game
Herrera believes there is no time for regrets and we have to keep our eyes fixed on the next game. “This really hurts. We have to get our heads around something and be honest with ourselves. We have to look at ourselves as individuals and as a team to put this behind us. There’s no time to get down on ourselves, we have to get ready for the next game. We have to deal with this in training and really put ourselves in the best position to succeed next week.
