Joe Rogan points at American society’s hypocricy over demands for Brittney Griner’s release

In the United States of America, there are many states where the alleged crime Brittney Griner commited is not even considered as such. However, there are still over 350,000 people in the country who got even tougher sentences than the 9 years she got in Russia for drug possession and smuggling. Even more outrageous is the fact that there are still thousands of Americans who are doing time in many prisons across the country for simply smoking weed in public. Currently, there are still more than 40,000 people imprisoned over the same charges as Griner.

People get all flustered and demand Brittney Griner’s release when their own system is just as messed up as Russia in many ways. Nobody should do prison time for smoking cannabis, many states in the country are already amking sure of this. But the red states still have a long way to go and they should stop asking for Griner to be released when they still have people locked up for the same reason.

Joe Rogan defends Griner and all cannabis users.

As a cannabis user himself, Joe Rogan spoke to fellow comedian Andrew Schulz in recent days about the Brittney Griner case. He obviously defended her but also pointed at the blatant hypocricy frmo many Americans who defend her and not the people arrested in their country for the same thing. This is what he said on the ‘Joe Rogan Experience‘ podcast: “She’s [Griner] already been over there for months.

“But here’s what’s important: People are freaking out about this, right? They’re freaking out. ‘Russia needs to let her go.’ We have people in America right now locked up for marijuana, and they’ve been locked up for f***ing years – for years and years and years. There’s not one, there’s thousands of them. So what, they’re not good at throwing a ball into a net? Is that what it is? They’re not good at that one thing that we like to watch, so those f***ing people don’t get let out?”

Even though the tendency has declined from 7,000 cases per year in 2012 to just under 1,000 cases in 2021, this problems still persists. Even more importantly, people who are already encarcerated still haven’t gotten a fair trial for smoking or having cannabis in their possession. Joe Rogan is absolutely correct by pointing this out. Brittney Griner needs to come back home but Americans who suffer even more horrible fates for the same “crime” deserve justice as well.
