China has taken action against the USA following Nancy Pelosi‘s visit to Taiwan.
The Beijing government announced on Friday that it will immediately halt cooperation with the US on several issues, including dialogue between high-level military commanders and the defence departments of both nations.
The move will not only halt aid in the area, but the Asian giant will also halt climate change negotiations with the USA, as well as co-operation to stop cross-border crime and the repatriation of illegal immigrants.
China has also sanctioned Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, and her immediate family in response to her “ruthless” and “provocative” actions.
China accuse Pelosi of threatening the peace and stability of Taiwan
“Pelosi […] insists on sneaking away from Taiwan, seriously interferes in China’s internal affairs, seriously undermines China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, seriously tramples on the one-China principle, and seriously threatens peace and stability in the Taiwan strait,” read a statement from the Chinese government.
Pelosi didn’t seem phased by the moves, telling reporters in Tokyo: “They may try to keep Taiwan from visiting or participating in other places, but they will not isolate Taiwan by preventing us to travel there.”
