A businessman, Okikajekwu Onunaku, has petitioned the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Muhammed Berde, over the razing of his country home.

Onunaku, in petition to the CP a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent in Owerri on Saturday, asked the police chief to bring the suspects to justice.

Onunaku said that some people had on July 30 burnt his country home in Oru area of Imo State.

He, therefore, called on the CP to bring the arsonists to justice.

The petition read,” I, Prince Okikajekwu Teddy Onunaku, on the 30th of July, 2022 being Saturday around ten in the night (10pm) I heard the sound of a gun, which I and my wife believed were the security operatives of Mrs Tina Onunaku, my Elder brother’s wife shooting as usual, because her security operatives always shoot every night.

“In the morning on my way going out, reaching our primary school Extension St. Peter at Ndiuhu , I saw a Siena blue bus with some gunmen masked with guns.

“They called me to come and answer them. I turned back and ran away and they followed me immediately thinking I drove back home. On reaching my house, they met my wife and pointed a gun at her , asking her where I was.

“She told them that I was not around. They entered inside my house and searched all the rooms and they did not see me.

“According to my wife, after ten minutes they left. They came back again with one mr Collins EZENWA ILO and searched and tumbled the whole compound with unknown gunmen all masked except mr Collins EZENWA ILO.

“The following Monday morning, I heard that my house was burnt down through a phone call. Collins EZENWA ILO came with some policemen and arrested two of my brothers namely: Benjamin Onunaku and Sylvanus Onunaku.

“I actually ran away when I saw those men who called me to come because I observed that the same Siena blue bus they came with has the same description which my wife told me that the same unknown gunmen came to my house two months ago by 11pm to search for me.

“Again , the same unknown gunmen have come to look for me with the same blue bus in my place of work (beach)where I excavate gravel. when I saw them coming to me, I had to run because of the level of insecurity in the country generally, and even in our LGA.”

The spokesperson for the police in the state, Micheal Abattam, said that the command was investigating the incident.
